Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in the Niagara Region Waste Survey. Like many places around the world, Niagara is working toward the ambitious goal of reducing its carbon footprint to net-zero by 2050. The Region is seeking community input on how to get there, exploring ideas like education, improved collection methods, and anaerobic digestion plants. I applaud their efforts because, let’s face it, this is a monumental task that will take a serious investment to realize.
Achieving net-zero means balancing the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) produced with the amount removed from the atmosphere. It’s a massive challenge, but one that can be met with collaboration. The World Resources Institute notes that reaching net-zero requires a complete transformation—from how we power our economies to how we transport people and goods.
While governments and corporations play a big role, we all have a part to play. Small changes like fuel switching, diverting food waste, and even planting trees can help. At Davidson Environmental, we’re passionate about supporting food waste diversion and turning methane into biofuel. Let us partner with your business to take this important step. Together, we can make a meaningful impact—because every step counts.
