Our Services

At Davidson Environmental, character and quality play major roles in the services we provide. Along with our overall mission, vision, and values, we pride ourselves on developing waste reduction and management strategies specific to each facility’s needs and goals. We focus on helping your company recycle, reduce, and reuse all possible waste while providing all waste services necessary for any business to survive.

We have identified four main benefits that we strive to bring to every facility we work with.
Keep in mind that approximately 65% of all garbage is compostable, as you consider these benefits:

Simple

The system is easy to use. The waste can go directly into a tote and be wheeled away into the desired area without heavy lifting. All food waste with its packaging can be put into the bin, making the program easy to learn!

Clean

We pick up full totes and drop off empty, clean ones, keeping you from cleaning up dirty bins with residual waste. No bags spilling or breaking since there are no bags used in the systems. Frequent pickups reduce odours and vermin.

Cost-Effective

No hidden fees. SAVES money on purchasing bags because our program does not require them! SAVES your money on garbage pickups by reducing their frequency (because you’ll be diverting more waste!).

Responsible

Enables you to achieve your sustainability goals. We all feel better when we do our part for the environment, and Davidson Environmental makes it easy and cost-effective.

What Happens After Your Organics Get Collected?

The BioSqueeze 200

The BioSqueeze 200 is the newest piece of equipment at Davidson Environmental and the first of its kind to process commercial waste in North America. This machinery allows us to properly separate all types of organic waste from their packaging, including canned goods, wrappers, and glass jars.

For example, if we put in expired granola bars, with their wrappers intact, this machine is able to separate the inorganic waste from the digestible organic waste. This then creates a nutrient-dense slurry that is in a perfect composition for disposal at a BioGas facility, as well as condensed ‘slugs’ of packaging that are the perfect candidate for waste-to-energy incineration.

For more information on this technology, visit www.fitec.ca and watch the video below.

The biogas process not only diverts organic waste from landfills, but it also captures greenhouse gases for use in renewable energy production, and the byproduct becomes fertilizer.

The BioGas Process

The BioGas process is part of a biological waste treatment method used in waste treatment plants everywhere in the world. Most of us have heard of ‘composting’ as the way to recycle food waste, and although that process holds true during the BioGas process, the difference is that instead of releasing the gases produced during the fermentation process, the gases are collected and used as a fuel product. The breakdown of steps is as follows:

  • Liquid organic waste, animal manure, and solid organic waste are led into a digester where an anaerobic process using bacteria ferments the wastes and produces biogas as a gaseous byproduct.
  • The remaining non-digestible solids in the digester are collected as a high-nutrient ‘sludge’ or ‘compost’ that can later be returned to the ground as fertilization.
  • This biogas is further processed, resulting in a gas consisting mostly of methane. This is similar to natural gas obtained from the oil and gas fields.
  • The methane and carbon dioxide gases can be stored under high pressures in cylinders or pumped directly back into the grid for use in both renewable electricity and renewable natural gas.

Truck Information

We have various trucks on the road, including straight trucks, tractor-trailers, and a knuckle-boom equipped roll-off truck. With these vehicles, we are able to service various types of waste management equipment, including carts, bulk waste bins, skids, and deep collection bins. Pictured here is our knuckle-boom-equipped roll-off truck, which handles all of our deep collection customers. We can service those, and almost any other cart/bin/bulk container type.
